How do you work with your clients?

“I help my clients to build, maintain, and - if necessary – restore their reputation. By working together we first determine which elements form the reputation. Then we look at which elements can be enhanced or, where necessary, should be changed. We then select the appropriate media platforms to communicate their particular content.

When building a reputation, I often act as a mirror for my clients. I seek out the content that could effectively be shared with the outside world. Sometimes companies don’t even see what great messages they have. I help them to bring these messages across to the public.

It is often the case that if I find it interesting, other people will too. My being situated outside the company enables me to take a fresh look at my clients.

I work with the top level people in the organization, because they have the most influence on its reputation. I work with them from their Code of Ethics down to their client contact. Once the foundation is strong, the communication throughout the company can be built upon it.

Then I connect the message to the audience. I use quality media to establish this connection. I always create a win-win situation. This occurs when the content of the message is of interest to the journalist and reader, and when my client has been able to convey his message well. In the latter case I always accompany my client, because experience has taught me that misunderstandings easily occur. I'm cautious with my media contacts, I do not spam journalists and I am very selective on the content. This enables me to best maintain my clients reputation.

If the reputation of a company is damaged, I guide my clients on how to repair it. Since I am a relative outsider, I take a fresh look at the situation and see what needs to change. When effective I employ my media relations to create again a win-win situation."
